The Persistive Team

John Greenacre established Persistive in 2008.

Having been commissioned from the Royal Military Academy Sandhurst John spent nearly 24 years in the Army as a pilot and staff officer with the Army Air Corps. He completed operational tours in the Gulf, the Balkans and Northern Ireland. He also served in the Falkland Islands, Canada, Kenya and Germany completing his service as the Operations Officer of the UK Attack Helicopter Force operating Apache helicopters from Wattisham in Suffolk in 2011.


John is a graduate of the Advanced Command and Staff Course and has a MA in Military Studies. In 2009 he was awarded a PhD in History from the University in Leeds for his thesis on the development of British airborne forces during the Second World War, publlished in 2010 by Pen & Sword as 'Churchill's Spearhead' (see Publications). He is currently a occasional lecturer at University Campus Suffolk.


John is a badged member of the International Guild of Battlefield Guides (Badge No. 44) and an accredited tour guide with the European Tour Operators Association. He is also a Member of the Chartered Managers' Institute and a Member of the City and Guilds Institute (Leadership and Management). 

For many years John has guided tours of the battlefield's of Europe including the Western Front, Dunkirk, Normandy, Arnhem, the Rhine, Malta, Berlin and the military coast of Suffolk. He works frequently with children and students of all ages with Anglia Tours (see links) and is a regular speaker on a number of historical subjects.
